This summer, we decided to switch things up from our usual touring caravan trips and opted for a seasonal pitch at Ocknell Campsite in the stunning New Forest—and what a fantastic decision that turned out to be!
From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how immaculately clean and tidy the entire site is. The pitches are large and generously spaced, offering a sense of openness and privacy at the same time. There’s no shortage of beautiful open space to enjoy, and the setting truly immerses you in the natural beauty of the New Forest. If you’re into walking, the forest walks here are out of this world—each one feels like an adventure, with wildlife and stunning scenery all around.
The team at Ocknell really make the experience special. The staff are friendly, caring, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure everything is just right. A special thanks to Gavin (Assistant Manager), who made our stay even more enjoyable. His attention to detail and warm approach made us feel welcome from day one.
We’ve had a wonderful summer at Ocknell and met some amazing people along the way, which has added to the overall experience. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone at the site for making it such an incredible place to spend the season. If you’re looking for a peaceful, well-maintained campsite with plenty of space and endless forest trails to explore, Ocknell Campsite is the perfect choice. We’ll definitely be back!

Friendly campsite rangers, quiet location and perfect if you want to be near the New Forest donkeys, ponies, deer's and cow's when you wake up in the morning! As this is situated on an old WW2 RAF base there is a lot of concrete pitches which aren't as "pretty" as such however still has access to trees and grass. As we have a campervan we were allowed to pitch in a separate area called The Glades (No caravans or motorhomes allowed in this section) which was grass, more secluded, right next to woodland and more "nooks and crannies" to pitch in which felt private and not overlooked. Toilets and wash up was about a 4 minute walk from our pitch. We also did a 6km circular walk from the campsite (All trails) which included a pub where we went for lunch. We left happy campers and would recommend.

Never had a bad experience here and we have been quite a few times. Nice and scenic. Not the biggest site in the New Forest but that's what we like. No showers but more than adequate flushing toilets and sinks to have a wash down if needed. If your lucky enough you could even have a horse or donkey literally stick their head into your vehicle.

Lovely place to stay in the New Forest. Clean toilet block, and washing up facilities. Beautiful scenery and walks around the area. Wild ponies, donkeys and deer all wandering free. Stunning, will definitely go again.

Lovely setting in the New Forest but if I'm honest, it's not the most pretty site; lots of concrete (it's on the old WW2 airfield remains) and it's quite near to the A31 so you can hear the road. The ground was rock hard so a lot of legs got bent putting our tent up.
The big bonus was the wildlife. We were greeted by some gorgeous deer with huge antlers who appeared to be happy wandering the site. Lovely stuff for my young daughter.
I would probably try other new forest sites before returning here.

My 9 year old daughter and I returned this year after having a great time at Ocknell in 2023, and it didn't disappoint. We loved picking blackberries with the donkeys! And going on lovely walks where we saw deer, ponies, horses, cows and more donkeys. The toilet and dishwashing block were always really clean and well kept. The new shop at the entrance way was a great addition and meant we could get ice cream to go with our blackberries :) The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the whole place had a very laid back and lovely feel. We pitched our tent in a secluded spot and had lots of space to roam around. Would recommend the site!

Friendly rangers and people at the shop were very nice and friendly. Toilets and places to wash dishes was well maintained. First time camping here (camping in general) and my young family and I had a great time. Lots of horses, foal, donkeys roaming freely. Scenery is absolutely beautiful and well preserved. Will be back next year.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst exploring the New forest. It's a large campsite offering toilet facilities only, no shower block. Campsite is clean and they allow you to select your own pitch. Wild ponies do walk freely around the campsite. Dogs are welcome.

What a place! The pitches are perfect and the rangers check in with all campers daily. No electric or water hook ups but there are water taps and chemical toilet disposal points throughout the site. The toilet block is always clean and the water is hotter than hell.
Now for the best bit. The animals, donkey, dear, horse and cow wonder freely through the camp bringing you nose to nose with nature in its own environment. The absolute silence at night is addictive and the sound of wind in the trees is music to my ears.
