It’s a shame they have changed the rules and have chosen to discriminate against children in such a wonderful place. A bit weird how they picked the best of all their sites to do this. Some one alleged to me that a very wealthy person who stays there doesn’t like to hear children over his afternoon gin and tonic.

We stayed 3 times during the summer months and will no doubt be back again next summer. Absolutely love the site. Adults only is a plus too.

We initially only booked 3 nights and ended up staying 7 - the peace and quiet was second to none we had ever experienced before - staff at Ocknell were so helpful, very friendly and you felt they all loved their jobs - ample space to pick the site that suited your needs and a abundance of friendly wildlife - the rainy weather never stopped us having fun here - hopeful to return before the season closes Thank you from Kim and Graham

We’d planned to bring our kids back this summer to have a fantastic experience in nature but they have now banned children from this site which was previously described as a perfect place for children and families. What a shame to deprive children of this lovely space which is managed by camping new forest.

Be aware to read the small print!! The chemical toilet requirement is PER PITCH, meaning that a group of 6 people, over 3 tent pitches in the same area, have to have 3 individual toilets?? Where is the logic. Substitute portable composting loo also considered unaaceptable. I'm sure its a pretty campsite but don't get stung as a camper or non-caravan club vanner... they're strict.

You have to access the site via a cumbersome barrier and TBH not the most attractive site.

This is now an adults only campsite and we stayed in our Motorhome for a long weekend in June. No need for hard standing as the ground was very hard, this place is so peaceful , with lots of wild life strolling through the campsite (horses, cows and deer). loads of walking or cycling paths.

Great off grid caravan/motorhome site. £10 per night, grass pitch, no electric, no shower block or toilet but has chemical waste disposal point, fresh water filling and bins.

Longbeech is a favourite of mine, it is a unique site in the heart of the new forest. Animals including horses, deer, cows and pigs all roam freely on the planes and in the forest with any number randomly appearing in the camp site. The site itself is nestled deep in the forest so you feel completely disconnected from the stresses of normal life. There are a number of lovely pubs within walking distance too, some a really quant old pubs (such as the Royal Oak which really is a treat) others such as the sir Walter Tyrell and the Green Dragon offer a great selection of food and plenty for the kids to do. If your a tent camper you will need your own toilet as there are no facilities on site except an Elsan and tap! All in all, I love this site and am sure you would too! Must be a reason I’ve been coming for fourth years I guess!

Brilliant Forest site. Sheltered under mature oak and beech trees. Ponies, deer and cattle graze on the site. No toilets, so bring your own. Pick up the permit from nearby Ocknell campsite. Update for April 2024...now an adults only site.
